Claudius Da Costa Gomez
After his studies in Agricultural Science at the Technical University of Munich - Weihenstephan and the Technical University in Berlin, he received his doctorate from the Institute for Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition at the Georg August University in Göttingen.
The aim of his doctoral thesis was to develop microbiological strategies for the reduction of methane production in the rumen. During this time and during his work as a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Ghent, Belgium, there were always overlaps with questions on targeted methane production in the biogas fermenter.
In April 2000, he took over as Chief Executive Officer of Fachverband Biogas e.V. – German Biogas Association. Dr. da Costa Gomez is a member of the board of the Federal Bioenergy Association (BBE) and member of the Board of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF).
In 2008, Dr. da Costa Gomez advanced the establishment of the European Biogas Association and in the last years has supported the development of biogas use and biogas associations in countries like Ghana and India.
