Beatrice Coda, Head of Unit at the CEF Energy Unit at the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency, European Commission, holds more than 20 years' experience in the energy field. Working for the European Commission since 15 years, first as a research programme manager for the energy sector in the 6th and 7th Framework Programme for research, then responsible for climate action funded programmes in the field of innovative renewables technologies. Since 2014 she has been responsible first as a team leader then as a Head of Unit in INEA for the financing of the energy infrastructure projects (Projects of Common Interest)


Role:


  • INEA is the Agency of the European Commission responsible for managing EU grants for infrastructure projects (Connecting Europe Facility programme- in energy, transport and telecom sector);

  • Responsible for managing the grants for the specific energy projects portfolio / CEF volume of public funding approx. 5bn euros

Discussion points:


  • Share information/experience on what the financing challenges of the projects – how does the EC help them to go ahead (grants and other financing instruments, other types of support)

  • Conditions to provide the public funding for the projects, particularly for non commercial viability within the regulatory framework

  • Overview of the EC outlook on infrastructure financing and particularly on gas sector
